What’s Missing?
The main struggle I’ve seen with creative job seekers is that – while they have a lot of drive, ambition, and talent… & they can do anything…. and COULD get any job they wanted…
They often lack FOCUS in the direction of their job search.
Here are some possible reasons why:
Shiny object syndrome
Lack of confidence in their creative skillset
Extreme introversion or professional aversion (avoiding networking at all costs)
Not tracking and measuring the job search process
No forward moving vision – nothing to move towards
Throwing spaghetti at the wall – trying lots of different things and never settling on any one thing
Plan & Strategize
So how do you get the clarity and focus needed to follow-through?
1. Start with an actual VISION.
What do you want to accomplish? What is your ULTIMATE career goal?
2. Chart out your map to get there.
What steps do you need to take & in what order? By when can you reach your goal?
3. TRACK & MEASURE everything.
Record every application, networking event, informational chat, LinkedIn encounter, portfolio review, … and FOLLOW UP.
4. Be consistent and keep moving up the path.
Keep taking steps forward. Even if you occasionally go backwards.
Get the Job!
That is how you can achieve your dream job!
Just stay focused.
